Associate design engineer - Piping
I work at an engineering firm that carries out projects for the chemical industry. These projects range from minor modifications in existing plants to the construction of completely new plants. Two years ago I started in the piping department as a piping designer.
An important part of my work involves modeling pipeline systems using CAD software. I also draft technical documentation and produce 2D drawings, such as isometrics and support drawings. The range of tasks is very varied and varies depending on the stage of the project and the specific requirements of the customer. Occasionally I also do a site visit, taking pictures and getting additional explanations about the installation. Finally, I regularly consult with other disciplines within the engineering firm, such as process, civil and E&I. That way I also gain insight into how the other departments work.
