Karolien Couscheir graduated in 2004 with a master's degree in industrial sciences construction engineering. After working 1 year as a project engineer at an offshore company, 2 years as a stability engineer at an engineering company and 8 years as a lecturer at the industrial sciences construction engineering program at the University of Antwerp, she started as a researcher at EMIB in January 2016. Her research focuses on different performance properties of asphalt, the use of recycled materials in asphalt and service life extension of asphalt pavements. In addition, she coordinates asphalt-related courses for professionals.
