Pieter Billen is senior lecturer in the Chemistry/Biochemistry program at Faculty of Applied Engineering. He is spokesperson for the iPRACS (Intelligence in Processes, Advanced Catalysts and Solvents) research group. He is a civil chemical engineer and received his PhD in engineering sciences in 2015 from KU Leuven, with a dissertation on biomass combustion. He worked at Drexel University in Philadelphia (PA, USA) in 2015-2016 and started at UAntwerpen in 2017. He is an expert in circularity of organic materials, with a current focus on plastics.
