Every year, we offer a dozen students the opportunity to do their internship at one of our construction sites. Our construction sites, both within the discipline "Buildings" and "Civil Engineering", are scattered in Flanders and Brussels.

After an introductory interview, we will be happy to see if we can find an internship position that meets your expectations. 

Team infra is responsible for the design of new roads and appurtenances (sewers, markings, lighting, attachment to the existing environment) within civil engineering projects. If it fits into the schedule, you will work here on an existing project. This can range from the drawing up of specifications and measurement statements to the dimensioning of sewers to a design drawn out in Civil 3D.

In this internship project we offer both calculation and drawing work of a steel shed, founded on a concrete floor slab with ribs supported by piles. You can choose to do only the calculations or the calculations can be combined with the drawings. The options below give an indication of what can be expected. Both content and term can be customized.

week 1 - 2: Main study of steel shed (stress and stability calculations using SCIA Engineer)
week 3 - 4: Detailed study of steel shed (calculation of connections using IDEA Statics and Hilti Profis Engineering)
week 5 - 6: Calculation of concrete foundation slab with ribs on piles (using SCIA Engineer and Excel)

As an intern project expert, you will be responsible for the complete and structured work preparation within Port Projects, both technically and administratively. For this you will work closely with the project engineers.

Your job duties are packed with variety!

During the planning phase of the projects -which include roads, quays, bridges and locks in the Antwerp port area- you will support the project engineer -and he you of course! What to expect from an internship with B&R Construction Group: 

• Coaching by our B&R Acadamy.
• Intensive supervision in the performance of your duties.
• Integration within the team allowing you to quickly add tangible value.
• Constructive evaluation of supervisor and others involved.

• You prepare and actively participate in site meetings
• Together with the site manager you ensure the practical monitoring of the site and you are responsible for the coordination and control of the work performed by your own employees and subcontractors.
• You are jointly responsible for the daily technical and administrative management of a project
• You implement and monitor overall safety, quality and environmental policies
• You help think of solutions in problem situations
