Asphalt Innovation Symposium
The Asphalt Innovation Symposium (AIS) was launched by the University of Antwerp and organized for the first time in 2018. The eighth edition will take place on Thursday, December 10, 2026, with the central theme "Research Meets Industry" to promote high-level collaboration and exchange of ideas between universities and industries.

What can you expect from this course?
AIS2026 will cover a wide range of topics, such as digitization, sustainability, the performance of bituminous materials, and innovative technologies within the industry. These themes will be highlighted in plenary sessions, keynotes, presentations, poster sessions, and contributions from invited speakers.All international researchers, industry stakeholders, managers, and students are welcome to participate and share their latest research ideas with others.

2025 edition
- 09:00 - 09:30: Reception with coffee
- 09:30 - 10:45: Opening Ceremony - Session 1: The Road Forward - Innovations and Perspectives in Asphalt Engineering.
- 11:15 am - 12:45 pm: Sessions 2A, 2B and 2C
- Session 2A: Innovation in Practice - When Research Meets Industry
- Session 2B: Anti-ageing Technologies
- Session 2C: Emission
- 12:45 - 1:45 p.m.: Lunch
- 1:45 - 3:15 p.m.: Sessions 3A, 3B and 3C
- Session 3A: Bitumen quality - Sectoral discussion.
- Session 3B: Advanced Technology on Bitumen Rejuvenation and Asphalt Recycling.
- Session 3C: Digitalization and AI
- 15:45 - 17:00: Session 4: Climatic Resilience Initiative for Pavement Infrastructure - Introduction to CRIPI COST Action
- 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.: Closing reception with reception.
